About your Police Chief/Director of Public Safety:

A police officer for 21 years, his law enforcement career began in 1985 with the Glen Ridge Police Department. In 1989 Chief Magnier worked with the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office - Jersey City, New Jersey assigned to the Gambling Task Force, returning the Glen Ridge in 1990. He worked his way meritoriously through the Glen Ridge Police Department's rank structure being promoted to Sergeant in 1994, to Lieutenant in 1995, to Captain in 2001 and Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety in 2001. He earned a Bachelor of Art's Degree from Saint Vincent College, Latrobe Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Seton Hall University. South Orange, New Jersey. In September 2003 Chief Magnier attended the prestigious FBI National Academy's 215th session, in Quantico, Virginia. Only ½ of 1% of law enforcement officials' nation wide are fortunate enough to attend the FBI National Academy. During the eleven weeks spent at the Academy, the chief completed 17 credits of instruction via the University of Virginia and completed the famed Yellow Brick Road Marine Corps obstacle course. Chief Magnier is a certified police instructor in the State of New Jersey and teaches many topics including Methods of Instruction, Police Ethics, First Responder Community Policing as well as seminar training on Background Investigations. He has been awarded ten commendations, nine through the Glen Ridge Police Department. In addition the Chief received a Papal Recognition from Pope John Paul II through the Arch-Diocese of Newark, New Jersey and Special Congressional Recognition for service to the community.

He is an Executive Board Member for the Essex County Association of Chief of Police since 2002, an active member with the New Jersey State Association of Chief's of Police serving on the Examination Committee and West Point Command and Leadership Committee, recently the State Association Certified him as a Chief Law Enforcement Executive. The Chief is an active member with the FBI- National Academy Associates - New Jersey Chapter; International Association of Chiefs of Police serving on the Public Safety Directors Committee and member of the Law Enforcement Executive Development Association.

He is an active member of the Mountainside Hospital Community Benefits Committee and Past President of the Glen Ridge Rotary Club 2001-2002 receiving a Presidential Citation as a Distinguished Rotary Club.
