Quality Of Life Issues

Noise Ordinance 1279
The following is a list of exemptions from Ordinance 1279, during which times the operation of equipment is permissible.

  1. Noise from domestic power tools, lawn mowers, leaf blowers and agriculture equipment operated with a functioning muffler between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm on weekdays and 9:00am to 9:00pm on weekends and holidays.
  2. Any tools or equipment used in construction, drilling, earth moving, excavating or demolition work between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. weekdays and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Exceptions may be given for emergency work or by variance issued through the Borough. Construction is defined as any site preparation, assembly, or erection, repair, alteration or similar action, but excluding demolition of buildings or structures.
  3. Garbage collection may occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Garbage may not be placed out prior to 6:00 p.m. the night before pick up.

Posting of Signs Ordinance 958 & Postering Ordinance 856
No signs are to be posted upon any tree or pole

Alarm Systems Ordinance 1079
Alarms with external audible speakers are to reset within fifteen minutes. A "False Alarm" means the activation of an alarm system where an emergency does not exist.

Canvassers and Solicitors Ordinance 704
No person shall canvass or solicit business between sundown or 5:30 p.m., which ever is earlier, and 9:00 a.m.

Sidewalk snow and ice removal Ordinance 148
Sidewalks are to be cleared of snow and ice, within twenty-four (24) hours after the storm has earlier passed.

Discarding Leaves into the street Ordinance 856
It is unlawful for anyone to lay any leaves upon the street.

No Parking 3:00 a.m.-6:00 a.m. Ordinance 790
There is no on street parking between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. You may call Police Headquarters for permission on a limited basis.

School Parking Restrictions Ordinance 659
No parking in the driveway of schools or on the roadway opposite a school building. This constitutes a hazard to the safety and welfare of pedestrians, and may hamper emergencies.

Dogs Ordinance 1040
You must pick up after your dog.

Repair of Sidewalks Ordinance 439
Owners of property are responsible for the repair or relaying of sidewalks in front of their property.
