Certificate of Occupancy / Zoning Compliance Certificate

An inspection for a Certificate of Occupancy / Zoning Compliance Certificate is required upon any change of ownership or tenant change. The following items must be properly installed and in working order prior to the inspection:

Smoke Detector on every floor
Carbon Detector at least 10 feet from every sleeping area
Fire Extinguisher (2-5 pounds) visibly mounted to the manufactures installation instructions

The fee for the inspection is $75.00 via cash or check made payable to The Borough of Glen Ridge. Inspections are performed by Building Department Staff, on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the morning, by appointment. To schedule an inspection please contact the building department at 973-748-8444.

All open building permits MUST be closed out prior to the issuance of the certificate.
